Living
This period of time is ours to get lost in. We will focus on a single site. We will follow a series of maps, real and unreal. We will travel through different locations searching, often travelling within the margins of society, often within the considered wastelands, within lost times of night and day.
We are looking for what matters, to ourselves and to our society.
We are listening for the unheard and that which is invisible.
We are hoping for the unknown and the curious.
We will consider where it is to perform and what performance could be ~ we will consider who our audiences are and what our relationship is with these people, we will interrogate spatial systems, we will discover the rhythm of space, time, place, we will explore different models of recording and how to engage with this form of documentation, we will consider technology and what it isn't, we will consider systems of collaboration along with patterns of thinking processes, we will consider communities and non communities, we will eat in cafes and drink in bars, we will cook food, we will discuss and map ideas, draw out possible routes, we will consider what it is to live and so what it is to die, to live . . .
Mayhew makes art. Based in Manchester, England.
Works out of his studio - 'art' -
Mayhew is known for taking a step into the unknown and returning with something that could "move people and change people's lives", as well as altering "how we see things".
He is considered to be "a conduit for other peoples stories, a vessel other people pass through" as well as being 'one of the most original and searching artists currently working in the UK.'
It has been stated that he 'attacks complacency', and that his work is "difficult, provocative, challenging and winds people up" but it is also "important, significant and influential."
A workshop for people interested in questioning the rules, who work with any media; painters, acoustic composers, sculptors, film makers, musicians, performers, dancers, chiefs, gardeners, yoga teachers, sex workers, shop lifters, political activists, philosophers, physicists, geographers . .
Sold Out!
