The Grand Tour
About
Throughout 2007-08 Michael Mayhew will be resident in the School of Environment and Development at the University of Manchester.
Throughout the academic year, Mayhew will immerse himself in different disciplinary practises to explore how the Principles of Mapping are used in different contexts across the university.
Mayhew’s intellectual and literal journeys will explore, map, and create installations and performance lectures to chart these encounters. He hopes to reveal the differences the knowledge communities have to mapping practices, be they practical, physical, psychological and academic.
Mayhew will make a journey throughout the university actively engaging with different disciplinary cultures and spaces, in order to experience the wealth of knowledge that exists in the university and draw a map of knowledge that investigates inter-relatedness between disciplines.
Status
The Grand Tour is a collaboration with the School of Environment and Development, University of Manchester, and is supported by the Leverhulme Trust.
